I was born and raised in Dallas. I claim it as my city and know all the best things to do in Dallas. But despite having quite possibly the biggest sweet tooth on the planet, I had no idea that Dallas has such innovative, adorable desserts. My job involves eating some of the most beautiful desserts in the world and sharing them on Instagram. And yet, I’ve tried painfully few in my own hometown.

Thankfully, Kate of @kawaiiDFW came onto the Dallas Instagram scene. Her name says it all: kawaii means cute or adorable in Japanese and she’s made it her mission to find all things kawaii in Dallas. This summer, I attempted to discover the cutest desserts in Dallas, but due to limited time and stomach space, Kate has graciously allowed me to share some of her photos too.

Be sure to scroll to the bottom for a map, so you always know how close you are to your next sugar fix! And just in case yo if u want to dress the part… I have a brand new line of dessert-themed shirts, prints and phone cases!

The Baked Bear

Ice cream? Good! Cookies? Good! Together? The best! For an OTT dessert explosion, mix and match cookie flavors and choose your favorite ice cream (I recommend butter brittle cake)! Visit their location in The Colony or check out their shops nationwide!

Cow Tipping Creamery

Cow Tipping Creamery began in Austin, and I’m so glad it’s arrived in Dallas! The artisan soft-serve company offers your typical favorites as well as some wild combinations (Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, chamoy, tajin, and mango anyone?!).

Creamistry

@kawaiiDFW

Holy color explosion, Batman! Creamistry’s ice cream sandwiches sound like the perfect way to celebrate breakfast all day long!

Doholics

@kawaiiDFW

The unicorn trend is nowhere near its end! Doholics also offers a selfie shake with an edible printout of your favorite photo!

Earnest Donuts

@kawaiiDFW

I’m not much of a raw fish fan… but these sushi donuts are making my mouth water!

Gnome Cones

If you GNO-ME at all, you’ll know I love anything cute. And these gnome-inspired snow cones are the cutest! And their all-natural flavors and colors are something you can feel good about!

ICENY Dallas

If you’ve never tried rolled ice cream.. what are you waiting for?! This method of making ice cream ensures a creamy and fresh finished product that’s amazing every time.

Jarams Donuts

Jarams Donuts are delicious… but they’re also super cute! How fun is this 4th of July Founding Father donut? For more a-dough-rable donuts, check out my post on the best donuts in Dallas!

Joy Macarons

Joy Macarons lives up to its name every day with happiness-inspiring macarons, ice cream, and macaron ice cream sandwiches!

Mallow Box

As if handcrafted marshmallows weren’t amazing on their own, Mallow Box in Legacy Food Hall makes Dallas’ most Instagrammable milkshake! Try the Whirlypop Shake or one of their other sweet treats. I guarantee you’ll be back for S’MORE!

Milk Cream

Donuts, ice cream, and sugary cereal, OH MY! This is my kinda panini!

The Royale Magnificent Burgers

I’ve had a few freakshakes in my day, and this is one of my favorites! The torched marshmallow was the icing on top of a very perfect s’mores shake.

SomiSomi

SomiSomi is a national chain with a location in Carrollton that serves “Ah-Boong,” a fish-shaped taiyaki cone stuffed with a filling (Nutella, red bean, custard, and more), filled with soft-serve ice cream (I love the ube/ sesame swirl), and finished with your choice of toppings.

Sweet Daze Dessert Bar

I live in a mermaid and unicorn world… which became a reality when I walked into Sweet Daze. The cakes are impressive, but don’t miss out on the lavender lemonade with fruity popping bubbles!

Yogurt Bliss (Denton) & Muggle Shakes (Fort Worth)

Ok, unicorns AND Harry Potter?! NOW I’m really in heaven!

Zero Degrees Frisco

The ube shake is pastel, sweet and perfectly Instagrammable. If you’re looking for something a little more bold, be sure to try their mangonada, made with chamoy, tajin and mango chunks. Spicy, sweet and yummy!

Sure, you’ll stick around for the freakshakes… but will UBE there for the Brussels sprouts days, too? What’s your LEAST favorite vegetable? Raw tomatoes ? makes me feel ill !

The Dough Dough (now under new ownership as Dallas Cookie Dough Co.)

This was my first edible cookie dough, and it’s my absolute favorite! With couture cones flown in from The Konery in New York, delicious flavors and an option for a shot of milk add-on? This is an Instagrammer’s heaven!
