while that area isnt interesting on a replay, it was super cool the first time around and makes a charming and memorable thing to look back on.
The average dumber game that gets forgotten within a year would have a generic unmemorable boss in an unremarkable circular arena. Good games are more likely to have gimmicky and creative, varied things because the developers can actually come up with fun ideas, and dedicate their bossfights to either more creative concepts or particulary special characters - Anonymous

It's 80% just a skill check on stealth, Sekiro leans really heavily into stealth mechanics so having a "boss fight" that skill checks them is just fine. Of all the ways to do a puzzle boss, it's probably the best.

It doesn't even fricking NEED to be a boss, as a sequence it's kino but as a boss it's the worst/most boring boss ever put in a fromsoft game (dark souls 2 probably beats it somehow but I haven't played that trash fire so please understand)- Anonymous

Oh, yeah that fight had some bad hit boxes too if I remember right.
Only the unskilled players who spent the whole game mashing take more than 10 attempts on Isshin. that SD gamer dude sucks at soulsbourne games and even he was about to beat Isshin in 3 tries
I get filtered by the lightning attacks, I'm ashamed to admit.

It still perplexes me how people can't for the life of themselves learn to play sekiro.
Depending on who you ask it's either the hardest or easiest fromsoft game, and I'm one of the ones who believes the latter.Literally just learn to mash l1.
I literally beat Inner Isshin with no damage because the boss fights are still spectacular and super satisfying and my friends give me sh*t for not doing it without the kuro charm and with the demon bell or whatever.I just felt burnt out after Owl Father and didn't want to grind out attempts and kind of just stopped.

You mean dark side phil?
That hom*osexual fakes most of his new stuff and sekiro is actually the one souls game he might be able to do well because people like to forget he started off as a semi-decent competitive fighting game player who built his reputation around people hating it when he actually won.Timings and parries are the one thing he might have something going on for.

Definitely one of the hardest for me, but I did manage to beat SS Isshin. I've never fought demon of hatred legit though. By that point I'm kinda weary of the difficulty.- Anonymous

Demon of Hatred is a funny example because him along with corrupted monk (first version more than second) are the two bosses that play more like souls bosses than sekiro bosses.
Most of the stuff they do you're better off i-frame dodging than parrying, and the stagger they get from parrying is already so bad it might have been the intention.- Anonymous

Ghost corrupted monk is actually my favorite boss, because it's just a straight up fight. No annoying status effects or gimmicks or anything, just pure attacking and blocking. I slowly whittled its health down until I could actually fill stagger meter.

Took me around 40-50 tries, difficult kinoHow!?
I genuinely don't understand how people find Isshin and DoH any difficult. The only 2 bosses in the entire game that were hard, was Genichiro and Ape. And that's only because they are so early in the game, and it's only on your first run.
Once the combat clicks for you, which for me was about halfway, everything after becomes a cakewalk.
I literally took less tries killing Isshin and DoH combined, then the first purple ninja.- Anonymous

Same, then I supposed to job to all the other bosses and quit the game shortly after the monkeys.
I get the gameplay, but it's so stressing. The pressure of having to parry frame perfectly or die almost instantly gets old after a while.

wut, you dont have to parry frame perfectly at all, you can completely job it and still only take a small amount of posture damage. also the penalty for having your posture broken is hardly anything- Anonymous

The parry window in Sekiro has to be at least twice of what it is in Souls. It's even more forgiving than BB, AND you can just continue to hold L1 after your parry and you'll block the attack as long as you weren't absurdly late.

Folding screen monkeys is the quintessential "sounds good on paper" concept for a boss
It must've been an all time pitch meeting
In practice it baaarely works, overwhelming majority of players just chase down the monkeys from their spawn and reset then when they dont kill them right away - Anonymous

The only thing I remember being slightly annoyed by were my first attempts against the Headless Ape, once I understood that I just have to go full aggro against him I enjoyed the fight as well the double fight later on even more so.
